merits:

demerits:
- limited to basic computing needs

- LS passed the LIC (Amendment) Bill 2009 on Monday - capital base of the state-owned insurer to R.100Crores on par with private insurers as per IRDA norms.

- allows LIC to allocate 90% or more such surplus
