- Russia may send warships and troops to Syria to protect its logistics base in Tartous, according to a Russian military source. “It is quite possible that warships of the [Russian] Black Sea Fleet may go to the Mediterranean Sea in case it is necessary to protect the Russian logistics base in Tartous, Syria, since is a zone of the Fleet’s responsibility,” a source in the Russian General Staff told the Itar-Tass government news agency.
- The restructured Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (R-TUFS) for the textile sector, operational from April 28, 2011 to March 31, 2012, has been extended for one more year; According to a circular issued by the Office of the Textile Commissioner, the R-TUFS for the textile sector will continue for 2012-13. - The initiative has been spearheaded by The Leela Palace Chennai to make the city clean and green. Earlier, the hotel had initiated a sapling plantation drive in and around MRC Nagar and has so far planted a mammoth number of 1,000 saplings around the vicinity.
